Focus on doing, not organizing

Chris Cozzolino shares how he deleted all productivity apps and saw his business grow 18% month-over-month.

Here are 5 changes he made to simplify his workflow and boost productivity:

1. Task management over task tracking

Shift the mindset from “I need to organize everything” to:

⇢ “I need to focus on doing the work, not tracking it.”
⇢ Simplify your task system to just what’s essential.

↳ Fancy task managers often waste time on organization instead of action.

2. Deep work over calendar blocking

Stop filling your calendar with shallow work and distractions.

⇢ Replace your calendar-blocking software with deep work sessions.
⇢ Focus on uninterrupted time for high-priority tasks.

↳ Calendar blocking can leave you with more surface-level work, not real progress.

3. Email efficiency over inbox zero

Constant email management isn’t necessary.

⇢ Limit email checks to 2 times a day.
⇢ Stop answering emails that will resolve themselves over time.

↳ Email optimization tools often encourage unnecessary email-checking behavior.

4. Implementation over note-taking

Stop collecting notes without acting on them.

⇢ Use a simple physical notebook and focus on implementing ideas immediately.
⇢ Avoid complex digital note systems that keep you in the planning phase.

↳ You don’t need thousands of notes—action is what makes progress.

5. Results over productivity distractions

Avoid consuming endless productivity content.

⇢ Ask yourself “Does this actually matter?” before diving into new books or podcasts.
⇢ Focus on tasks that directly lead to results.

↳ Productivity content can be another form of procrastination if you don’t take action.

Delete the tools that only give you the illusion of productivity. Real productivity is about focusing on what truly matters.

Time management strategies for B2B sales

This video by Tony Cascio gives clear steps for salespeople to manage time and boost results:

1.) Focus on your best deals

Drop weak leads fast.

⇢ Ask about budget and decision process early.
⇢ Spend your time on prospects most likely to buy.

↳ A strong pipeline comes from saying no to the wrong opportunities.

2.) Block time for selling

Set hours for prospecting and meetings.

⇢ Don’t let other tasks take over these blocks.

↳ Consistent time blocks keep you focused.

3.) Automate routine work

Use tools for emails, follow-ups, and reminders.

⇢ Create templates for common messages.

↳ More automation means more time for selling.

4.) Call when buyers answer

Make calls when prospects usually pick up.

⇢ Do admin work outside of those hours.

↳ The right timing leads to better conversations.

5.) Cut out distractions

Check email only a few times daily.

⇢ Turn off chat apps and notifications during selling time.

↳ Fewer distractions mean more deals.

6.) Plan and review your day

Set your top goals every morning.

⇢ Review what you finished before ending the day.

↳ Daily planning keeps you on track.

Win the morning to win the deals

Mark Hunter lays out the exact steps high-performing salespeople use to start their day with focus and energy.

Lock in a morning routine

The first 60–90 minutes of your day shape everything. Top sellers don’t leave it to chance.

Start here:
⇢ Get your body moving — even 10 minutes is enough
⇢ Avoid your inbox first thing
⇢ Wake up at the same time every day (yes, even weekends)

Send one thank-you message

⇢ Pick someone — client, teammate, friend
⇢ Send a quick thank-you or compliment
⇢ Changes your mindset and how you show up

Don’t overthink it. One line is enough.

Sit with your thoughts

⇢ Spend 5 minutes in quiet (no phone)
⇢ Reflect on one thing you're grateful for
⇢ Think about what matters most today

This centers you and keeps stress from leading the day.

Read something real

⇢ Open a book, not your feed
⇢ 5–10 pages is fine
⇢ Choose topics that stretch your thinking

Reading long-form builds discipline and deeper focus.

Look at your annual goals

⇢ Open the doc or write them down
⇢ Ask: “Am I closer or further today?”
⇢ Spot one thing you can do now to make progress

If you never look at them, they’re just ideas.

Set today’s focus

⇢ Choose 1–3 important outcomes for the day
⇢ Not tasks — outcomes
⇢ Make sure they align with your goals

If you’re not building your dream, you’re helping someone else build theirs.

Block time for outbound

⇢ Set a timer
⇢ Prospect, follow up, sell — no distractions
⇢ Treat prospecting like a non-negotiable

Your pipeline tomorrow depends on what you do today.

Audit your calendar

⇢ Look at each meeting
⇢ Ask: “What is the clear outcome?”
⇢ Cancel or shorten anything without a goal

Never walk into a meeting without knowing why you're there.

Message your inner circle

⇢ Tell your partner or kids you appreciate them
⇢ Message a mentor or team member
⇢ Show you care — it shifts your energy

Same idea as the thank-you note. Start from connection.

Expect a strong day

⇢ Assume good things will happen
⇢ Carry that belief into every call and meeting
⇢ It makes you more present, more confident, and more persuasive

Optimism isn’t fluff — it’s leverage.
